Welcome to our school
Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community High School is an 11 to 18 comprehensive school of approximately 1350
students including 230 in the Sixth Form. Our large catchment area includes the villages of Cheslyn Hay,
Essington and Featherstone and we have a long tradition of taking students from further afield.
The school has acquired a strong reputation for enabling the young people in our care to flourish.
This was confirmed by our most recent Ofsted inspection that judged us to be an outstanding school.
For a number of years the school has been oversubscribed and annually our examination results are above
the national average.
We believe that high expectations lead to high levels of achievement. Therefore, we set high standards
for our staff and students. Our teachers and support staff members are well qualified and very committed to
their work. The students are polite, pleasant and enjoyable to teach. We receive excellent support from our
parents and the local community. As a school we work closely with our primary schools and other local high
schools in the areas well as having excellent relationships with a number of universities and the local
Open Evening, Thursday 25th September from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m
Parents of prospective Year 7 and Year 10* students are invited to our annual open evening on
Thursday 25th September from 6:30am – 8:30am. On the night you will get the opportunity to
learn about what makes our school special through meeting with some of our students,
parents and staff. You will also be able to see for yourself some of the outstanding
facilities that are available to our students. There is no need to book a place in advance
so please just turn up. Additional parking will be available on the school coach park.
Understandably, you may like to see the school during the day. To enable this to happen we are
running a week of open sessions lasting approximately an hour each morning beginning Monday 29th
September starting at 9.00 a.m. You are very welcome to visit us on one of these mornings. However,
we expect that these sessions will be busy so please ring to book a place and to let us know that
you are coming. If you cannot make one of the open mornings but would like to visit at another time,
please contact Mr Wigg, one of our Assistant Heads, through the school office. He will arrange another
time that is convenient to you.
We do hope you will take the opportunity to visit our school in the very near future to see for
yourself what we offer and to experience first-hand what makes Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community
High School so popular.
*We do currently have a limited number of places available in Year 10. Please call school for more information.
